Seeking Advice on Building a Better Relationship with My Daughter-in-Law
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use some advice. My name is Eva, and I have a wonderful son named Eric who recently got married to a lovely woman named Alexa. While I genuinely like Alexa and want to have a good relationship with her, I’m finding it difficult to connect with her.
Here’s a recent example: During a family gathering, I asked Alexa if she could help by slicing some cheese. Instead of helping, she stayed at the table chatting with Eric. I felt a bit hurt and unsure of how to interpret her actions. Was she just engrossed in conversation, or is there something more to it?
I don’t want to come across as overbearing or critical, but I also don’t want to feel ignored. How can I approach this situation in a way that fosters a positive relationship with Alexa? Have any of you experienced something similar? How did you handle it?
Thank you in advance for your advice and support!
Warm regards,
Eva
