Help! My Mother-in-Law Wants to Move In and I’m Freaking Out!
Hey everyone,
I really need some advice and I’m hoping you all can help me out. So, here’s the deal: my mother-in-law, Ruby, is getting older and she’s been hinting (okay, more like outright saying) that she wants to move in with us. Don’t get me wrong, Ruby is a sweet lady, but the idea of her living with us 24/7 is kinda freaking me out. Plus, the cost of keeping her in a good care home is through the roof right now.
I’ve talked to my husband, Gerald, about it and he’s on the fence. He loves his mom and wants to make sure she’s taken care of, but he also gets that having her live with us might be a bit much. We’ve got two kids, Piper and James, and our house isn’t exactly a mansion. I’m worried about the space, the privacy, and honestly, my sanity.
I’ve thought about maybe looking into some in-home care options, but I’m not sure how affordable or practical that is. Also, I don’t want Ruby to feel like we’re just shoving her off on someone else. She deserves to feel loved and cared for.
So, what do you guys think? Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? Any tips on affordable care options or ways to make this work without losing my mind would be super appreciated!
Thanks a ton,
Ariana
