Seeking Advice: Family Members Deciding My Living Situation Without Consent

Dear Life Advice Society,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek guidance and perhaps some shared wisdom from other readers who might have faced similar situations.

My name is William, and recently, my mother, Nora, and my sister, Camila, have come up with a plan that directly impacts my living situation. Without prior discussion, they have decided that Camila, along with her child, should move into my apartment. In turn, they suggest that I should move in with my mother. They presented this as a done deal, assuming I would comply without any objections.

This decision was made without my input, and it places me in a very uncomfortable position. I understand that they might be facing their own challenges, but I feel that my autonomy and personal space are being disregarded. I am all for supporting family, but the lack of communication and consideration has left me feeling upset and disrespected.

I am reaching out to ask for advice on how to handle this situation. How should I approach this conversation with my mother and sister to express my feelings without causing a rift in the family? Are there strategies I can employ to ensure that my voice is heard and that such decisions in the future involve my input?

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated.

Warm regards,

William
