Need Advice: Parents Cut Us Off After Hospital Discharge

Hey everyone,

I really need some advice and support right now. My name is Cora, and my husband Roy and I are going through a really tough time. Recently, we were discharged from the hospital after a pretty intense experience. We were hoping to lean on our family for some support during this recovery period, but things took a turn for the worse.

When we got home, my parents, Gerald and Nora, dropped a bombshell on us. They said, “We don’t want to keep in touch with you! Don’t expect any help from us.” I was completely blindsided and heartbroken. I have no idea what triggered this reaction from them, and they haven’t given us any explanation.

Roy and I are feeling really lost and abandoned right now. We were counting on their support, especially since we’re still recovering. It’s not just about the physical help; it’s the emotional support that we desperately need.

Has anyone else been through something similar? How did you cope with it? Should we try to reach out to them again and ask for an explanation, or should we just respect their wishes and move on? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!
