Help! My Son’s Reaction to a Serious Situation is Laughing and Making Jokes

Hey everyone,

I really need some advice on how to handle a situation with my son, Arthur. So, here’s the deal: I recently found out that someone taught my little one to say “baba,” which is a bit of a sensitive issue for me. I decided to give the person responsible a chance to apologize, thinking it would be the mature way to handle things.

But when I talked to Arthur about it, his reaction was totally unexpected. Instead of understanding the seriousness of the situation, he just laughed and made silly jokes. I was honestly taken aback and didn’t know how to respond. I mean, I get that kids can be goofy, but this felt really inappropriate given the context.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? How do you get through to your kids when they don’t seem to take important matters seriously? Should I have approached the conversation differently? Maybe I was too serious and it made him uncomfortable?

Any tips or advice would be super helpful. I’m feeling pretty lost here and just want to make sure I’m handling this in the best way possible for both of us.

Thanks in advance!
