Help! Should I Keep Helping My Lazy Sister and Mom at the Expense of My Own Family?

Hey everyone,

I really need some advice and I hope you can help me out. I’m in a bit of a tough spot and I’m not sure what to do. So, here’s the deal:

My name is Dominika, and I’ve always been the go-to person for my family. My sister, Hailey, and my mom, Adeline, are constantly relying on me for help. Whether it’s financial support, running errands, or just being there to listen to their problems, I’m always the one they turn to.

The thing is, Hailey is super lazy. She doesn’t even try to get a job or do anything productive. She just sits around all day expecting me to bail her out whenever she needs something. And my mom, well, she’s not much better. She always has some excuse for why she can’t do things on her own and ends up dumping everything on me.

Now, I wouldn’t mind helping them out if it didn’t come at such a high cost. My husband, Kyle, and I are starting to feel the strain. We’re both working hard to make ends meet and build a future for ourselves, but it feels like we’re constantly being dragged down by my family’s demands. It’s starting to cause tension between us, and I don’t want our relationship to suffer because of this.

So, what do you think I should do? Should I keep helping my sister and mom even though it’s hurting me and Kyle? Or is it time to set some boundaries and focus on my own family for a change? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Dominika
