Seeking Advice: Strangers Demanding Access to My Rented Apartment
Hey everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out because I’m in a bit of a bind and could really use some advice. My name is Michael, and I rent out an apartment to some tenants. Recently, I’ve been approached by a group of strangers who are demanding that I let them into the apartment. They claim to be a family in desperate need of a place to stay and are trying to appeal to my sense of compassion.
The situation is quite complicated. On one hand, I feel for them and understand that finding a place to live can be incredibly challenging, especially for families. On the other hand, I have a responsibility to my current tenants and can’t just let random people into the apartment without proper vetting and agreements in place.
I’ve spoken to my current tenants, and they are understandably uncomfortable with the idea of strangers being given access to their living space. I want to help, but I also need to respect the privacy and security of my tenants.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? Should I involve the authorities, or is there a way to mediate this situation peacefully? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best,
Michael
