Seeking Advice: Struggling with Caring for My Elderly Mother

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. My name is Cora, and I’m in need of some advice and support from this wonderful community. My mother, Violet, is in her early seventies, and I recently decided to bring her to live with me. I thought it would be the best way to ensure she gets the care and attention she needs. However, I’ve quickly realized that this decision has brought about a lot of unexpected challenges.

Violet has always been a strong and independent woman, but her health has been declining, and she needs more assistance with daily activities. I work full-time, and balancing my job with her care has been incredibly difficult. Additionally, our relationship has become strained as we navigate this new living arrangement. I feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to manage everything.

I’m reaching out to ask for advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. How do you balance work and caregiving? What resources or support systems have you found helpful? How can I improve my relationship with my mother during this challenging time?

Any tips, suggestions, or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any advice you can offer.

Warm regards,

Cora
